What if 95% of the universe is not missing?
Standard cosmology assigns 27% of the universe to dark matter and 68% to dark energy, neither of them detected. The programme starts from three established facts: empty space has energy, energy has mass, and mass gravitates. The vacuum must gravitate; the question is how.
In 1967 Zel'dovich identified the cosmological constant with the vacuum energy density. The identification was adopted, never derived. Removing it, and letting the vacuum respond to matter locally, turns the missing mass into the weight of vacuum captured in gravitational wells — with a coupling measured in nuclear physics, not fitted.

Λ and ρvac are physically distinct
The cosmological constant belongs to the field equations, the vacuum energy to quantum fields. Separating them dissolves the 10120 discrepancy. Only contrasts of the vacuum gravitate: a uniform vacuum pulls towards no point.
αV = σ / [3 mN(1 + κ)] = 0.0050
σ = 90 MeV, the measured nucleon sigma terms · κ = 5.38 ± 0.05, the captured ratio fixed by the acoustic peaks · baryon fraction 1/(1+κ)

Gravitation switches on with the condensate
S = ∫N√h [c⁴𝓡mod/16πGeff(σ) + 𝓛χ + 𝓛m]
+ (k/2)∫τ∧dτ + Sdiss, Geff = G(σ/fπ)3/2
One action gives the Carrollian beginning, the vacuum's w = −1, Newton's constant from the pion and the relaxation of the vacuum. At the beginning the condensate is zero, and so is gravitation.
G = gA²mN²ħ² / (8π fπ² c τ mπ³): the pion binding of the vacuum diluted by the memory of its network, τ = 7.7–8.7 Gyr.
